Introduction
The Brahmtal Trek is located in Uttarakhand’s Garhwal Himalayas. It leads to the alpine lake Brahamatal lake. The trek will take you through lush green meadows and dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and other vegetation. The lake is located at a high elevation of 3733m and requires a 27-km trek to reach it. The trek offers stunning views of mountains and peaks like Mt. Mana, Mt. Neelkanth, Mt. Chaukhamba, Mt. Trishul, Mt. Nanda Ghunti, etc. You can camp beside the Brahmtal lake to enjoy the stunning scenery. This peaceful and refreshing trek is sure to please.
You don’t have to focus solely on Brahmtal lake. There is also a Bekaltal Lake, which is lower down Brahmtal lakes and surrounded by thick forests and big trees.

Itinerary
Lohajung to Rishikesh
It takes approximately 10-12 hours to drive the 260kms distance from Lohajung, the base of the trek.
Lohajung to Bekaltal
The trail leads to a dense, beautiful forest. The trail can take between 5-6 hours. This trail will take you to a valley where two rivers, River Kali, and River Pindari, meet. You will be captivated by the tranquility of this spot and will never want to leave.
From Brahamatal to Bekaltal
This trek will take you through thick oak forests to reach Telandi, a lush green meadow. The snow covers the entire green area, making it a snowfield in winter. You’ll see yellow flags to the left of this green stretch, which indicates that there is a temple nearby. This temple is located approximately 500m from Brahamatal lake. Camping is possible at 500m from the lake.
Brahmtal to Tilbudi
To see the lake, which is surrounded by dense trees, you will need to climb a bit higher than your camp. Clear days make the river look like a mirror, while winters freeze the lake completely. Now, you’ll need to hike up to the Brahmtal Pass. You will be able to see the beauty of several peaks from the top of the pass once you have reached the top. Nanda Ghunti, Mt. Trishul. You can take your time and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Tilbudi to Lohajung
Begin your descent towards Wan on a trail lined with oaks and rhododendrons. After a certain distance, you will reach Chota Tilbudi’s water source. You will eventually reach Wan village after an hour of walking downhill.
Lohajung to Rishikesh
The trek is over. There is 260 km left to go. You’ll be taking with you a lifetime’s worth of memories and stories.
The best time to visit Brahmtal Lake
This trek can be done throughout the year, depending on what type of sight you want to see. In the winter months, between November and March, snow covers the entire trail. This makes the trek one of the most popular treks in winter. Winter is the best season to view snow-capped peaks and snow-covered trees on your trek.
Spring and summer are the best times to visit lush green meadows and sparkling and reflecting lakes, as well as colorful landscapes. Autumn is the best season to see the red and orange leaves of oak trees and rhododendrons, and it’s between October and November.
Brahmtal Trek difficulty level
